v0.7 better scoring, and juice added


These incremental improvements make it feel more like a game. And more like a game is more fun.

Honestly right now it feels entertaining, but not like a game. Once it feels more like a game I’ll consider making this paid.

Balance

Previously, the scoring system was +3 for each clear of 3 items, and -1 for each move. This meant it was very hard to get a 0 or negative score.

‘If you can’t lose, it’s not a game.’

Now you have to play with some strategy to get a positive score. And the only change was from +3 to +2 for clearing 3 items. This effectively means, of the three items, you should at most only move two of them.

Features

  • the custom game menu is back from v0.2, but now it looks up and saves scores for any custom size
  • basic controller / keyboard support added
    • for now press select to activate on the main menu
    • arrows in game to start highlighting slots
    • choose a source slot, then move to a destination, and choose it, with the bottom “A”/“Circle”/“B”(nintendo) button.
  • added 10 new items, for a current total of 30 unique items

Bug Fixes

  • fixed: centering on non 16:9 resolutions, and other non 1080p resolutions
  • fixed: drop sometimes doubled up items
  • fixed: iOS pinch too sensitive - note: iOS not available yet
  • fixed: iOS low power black screen

Juice

  • game over animations
  • score points near cursor when dropping
  • background color changes as game progresses
  • textures reworked to use the same UV maps for all items
  • some models updated
